Technical Claims Careers in Admiral - Here's Rob's Story...

We are currently recruiting for experienced Technical Claims Handlers to join our Claims department. This is an exciting opportunity to make a big impact in our technical and specialist teams, where we are open to hearing new ideas.

We met with Rob, our Household Technical Claims Team Manager, to find out more about his story and positions available in his team. Here’s what he had to say:

“I joined Admiral in 2004, when the company was first establishing itself as a market leader in the insurance industry.

When I saw the job advertisement for a Claims Handler at Admiral, I wasn’t sure where I wanted to take my career, so I decided to apply. I needed a job and it sounded like an interesting role, and I haven’t looked back since!”

“Whilst I’ve decided to stay within the Claims department, I’ve moved around several areas, including: Accidental Loss, Complaints, First Notification of Loss and Bodily Injury.”

“I now work in the Household Claims team. We launched Admiral Household Insurance in 2012, and it is the fastest growing household insurance in the UK, so I decided it would be a great next step in my career.”

“In Claims, no case is the same. I like the diversity of the role, and appreciate the flexibility to manage your own caseload. You’re encouraged to develop yourself, and have the autonomy to assess and make decisions that are best for both the customer and the company.”

“Some roles based in call centre’s can be quite scripted, however this role is different. We ensure we communicate clearly, so the customer and third parties fully understand the claims process, and to do that we need to adapt to each individual. As long as you follow the company procedures and guidelines, you can handle the claim whichever way is best for you and the customer.”

“There is a very relaxed atmosphere at Admiral, and despite the large size of the company, it has a family-feel.”At present, we’re recruiting for Technical Claims Handlers with household claims experience. It would be beneficial to have experience dealing with large loss claims (over £25,000), and perils such as subsidence, flooding, jewellery, escape of oil etc. Also, if you have obtained, or are working towards and insurance qualification, such as CII, that would be desirable.

Our Technical Claims Handler’s require extensive knowledge, as they will be overseeing their own portfolio of cases, in addition to being a point of contact for technical referrals.
