The people behind the promotions: Anna, People Services Executive

In February 2007 Anna joined what was then called Teleclaims, taking incoming calls regarding claims queries and was there for 5 months before being promoted to Accidental Damage Claims Handler, managing her own caseload. After 2 years the department merged with Claims Quality, and was an opportunity Anna took to experience another area of the department. As a Claims Quality Handler Anna quickly progressed to Team Senior and after a year and a half of being Senior, progressed to Team Manager. 

 ‘’After 5 years of being Team Manager, I’d experienced various roles in the Claims department, building on my technical and managerial skills and then thought that it was time for a fresh challenge.

‘’Having joined People Services (HR) earlier in the year, I’ve already been exposed to many operational level issues and sensitive cases. As a People Services Executive, I am allocated 300 staff members from handlers to Operations Managers from around the business and I am their point of contact for people and managerial advice. As a result my business knowledge has expanded substantially. The exposure to the business in People Services is fantastic, I have learnt a lot as you get a wider view of how the business operates.

“The advice I would offer someone who wanted to work their way up is to stick at it, be persistent and don’t give up. Don’t wait for a job to come to you, make an effort and speak with that team and learn about that department and show your interest. That way if a job does come up within that area you are already one step ahead of the competition and if you don’t get the job, you’ve had great experience of the interview, equipping you for next time you apply.
