Meet Josh who joined Admiral Renewals and received a promotion within one year

Renewals is a diverse and rewarding department, and is integral to the success of Admiral. The department deal with £1 billion worth of premium each year and each Renewals Consultant is responsible for £250,000 worth of premium every month!

Renewals consultants deal with existing customers who are calling regarding their insurance renewal for the next year. Renewals Consultants are required to tailor policies to customers’ needs, be good negotiators, and must have the ability to provide excellent customer service.

Josh joined as a Renewals Consultant in November 2015, exceeded in his role and progressed to a Senior position within 1 year. He joined Admiral with no prior call centre or managerial experience, and is now responsible for supporting his team manager in the daily running of his team. Josh said:

“After passing training, I was eased into the role and started taking live calls. I felt confident to do so with all the training I received and support around me.

“I enjoyed working with my team, and was given constant feedback to develop my skills. There are also lots of fun competitions to keep morale high!

“Once I was comfortable handling calls I was able to progress and take a higher blend of retention calls, which gave me the opportunity to show off my ability and skill against other great and experienced agents.

“Once a senior position became available in the department, my manager and senior gave me the help and experience I needed to apply. I also had help with mock interviews and my application was successful!

“My favourite thing about working in the Renewals department is the people; I’ve always found the staff very approachable from the Consultants to the Head of Renewals. Also, there are great progression opportunities in the department, and I really feel I can make a difference in the department. I like that the role is challenging, and that negotiation is a key element of the role. It’s a very competitive department, as we are all very motivated individuals!
