From work experience placement to full time career!
Clementine, a Business Development Executive began her new role at Admiral just a few weeks ago.
Prior to her employment, Clementine carried out a 6-month placement at Admiral as part of her Degree study at Cardiff University.
She said ‘‘I applied for Admiral because I loved that the placement offered open opportunities to explore the business. Admiral made it clear that this was going to be a very innovative role and that was so exciting for me.
The opportunity to gain experience and work in a company such as Admiral, whose culture is so different to a traditional corporate company, was very appealing.’’
Originally from Bath, Clementine studied at Cardiff University. As a student approaching her third year, like many other students she was not yet sure on a defined direction for her career.
During her placement she set to work on the launch of some major products, working closely with the Head of Beyond Insurance Products.
‘‘I love the flat structure of Admiral, everyone here is so approachable, and I felt so involved. There is no hierarchy, the fact that I was working so closely with such senior business leaders even during my placement was such a good experience for me."
Due to the success of the work carried out during Clementine’s placement, she successfully secured an offer for a full time position with Admiral. Now she has completed her degree at Cardiff University, she is working with the Business Development Managers researching products beyond insurance. Since joining Admiral in her new role, Clementine shared her highlights ‘‘I have received mentoring from Henry Englehardt and the now current CEO David Stephens. I heard about their management experience and their time before Admiral first hand. This has been so valuable; I didn’t expect to get this level of training and support.’’
‘‘Placements and internships are such a great opportunity, do not underestimate the value work experience can provide you. If you are thinking about applying for a placement or a job at Admiral, make sure you research the company and the market. Admiral is going in new directions, we’re not just about insurance anymore, and it’s such an exciting time!
Anyone who is thinking of applying should try and understand the person that Admiral is looking for, it’s that Admiral attitude. The people here are so friendly, honest and helpful. Everyone is just themselves’’.
